job spider programs on their computers. You can design new search strings and
just send the jobspider.categories.xml and the new .com.xml files to each associate and
their programs will be updated.
- As another example, let us assume that a person designs a new search site with
the Job Search Tool but they wish to increase the program flexibility. They
can use the Programmers Manual to make the search string more powerful by adding flexible;
posting times, states or territories, Boolean operands, etc.

send their com.xml file to the associates who would REPLACE their current com.xml file in
the SITES Folder. In this case, no modification to the

explanation of our proprietary Job Spider Search Engine and its special proprietary Job
Spider User Interface (JSUI). The manual shows you how to make up
search strings for an UNLIMITED number of company employment boards, job boards and Resume

take advantage of the powerful HTML database search engines used by major corporations,
job recruiters and job boards, worldwide.
Our Parsing Program Manual
explains our special language and how you can modify the search strings you created with
the automatic Internet Job Search Tool to extract "real time" data from any
worldwide HTML database.
Warning: Users with an understanding
of basic XML and basic HTML coding will find this manual very easy to use. This manual is
not supported and is delivered in "as-is" condition.
With this manual you can expand search sites parameters that can be retrieved
by the Job Search Software. The program that is supplied with each Job Spider order only
prepares EXACT site search codes. This means that the Job Spider codes prepared by the
"Automatic Internet Job Search Tool" only searches sites by the parameters that
you choose when you prepared your new site.
This programmer’s manual allows you to take the code produced by a Job Search
Tool and re-code it for maximum flexibility.
As an example. You can prepare special search strings for resume sites that
will anticipate for your "login" and "password".
Tools needed for use of this manual are:
- A copy of most recent Registered Job Search Program installed on your computer.
- Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher.
- XML enabled editor providing the appropriate coloring and formatting plus syntax
checking. In our work we use the XML Writer Manual which can be found at:
http://xmlwriter.net/
Microsoft Front Page 2002 or 2003 or any HTML
editor.
 ALERT: The intent of this
manual is not to have the Gelb Organization staff design your search sites. It is up to
you to do the designs and follow the manual.
The Job Spider search engine uses a unified proprietary file format (Job Spider
Format - JSF) containing all parsing data for a given web site. The file is XML based and
may contain information for one or more web sites.
JSF was designed with the following goals:
- To contain all the information for a web site to be processed
- To contain information for one or more web sites
- To allow easy modification without the need the search engine to be rebuild
- To allow easy adding of new web sites
Each JSF file is composed from one root node and one or more sub nodes. Each
node and its formatting is explained in details in the next sections of the specification.
How the
"Automatic Internet Job Hunting Tool" Operates.
All results of any file created by the Job Search Tool are stored in the Sites
Folder as an xml file. For our example, if we created a search string for
www.zillionresumes.com, it will be named in our Site Folder www.zillionresumes.com.xml
If we also look in the Config Folder we will find a file named:
jobspider.categories.xml. This particular file is very unique and every time
we issue upgrades, your job spider program file is matched with the new
jobspider.categories.xml file and the file is upgraded. In other words, the new upgraded
jobspider.categories.xml will contain any search string that you previously custom
created. Nothing is lost.
If you had created the zillionresumes.com file with your Job Search Tool and
also created a new category; for example, "Special Search Strings" and we look
at the very bottom of a jobspider.categories.xml file we will see the custom files and the
custom file looks like this:

Please note that your custom file is added to our jobspider.categories.xml file
and this is a custom file. So all new upgrades see this special custom category and append
it to the new jobspider.categories.xml file in the upgrade.
Similarly, the Sites Folder is not over written with an upgrade and so the file
www.zillionresumes.com.xml is ready to serve you and its master file
jobspider.categories.xml.
WARNING TO USERS: Below is a paragraph addressing coding for countries outside the USA.
Please note that when you perform an upgrade to the software the JobSpider.config.xml
file WILL BE OVERWRITTEN. Therefore; you will have to copy your
JobSpider.config.xml file to another area BEFORE you do the Upgrade and then after
Upgrading your software COPY YOUR FILE OVER THE NEW FILE CREATED BY THE UPGRADE.
How to Code
for Countries Other Than the USA
Coding for any country outside the USA is very simple. The file that must be
enhanced is the file named JobSpider.config.xml which also resides in the C:\Program
Files\Gelb Organization\Unlimited Internet Job Spider\Config Folder on your computer. We
will discuss how to do this in section 7.3.2 under aliases with examples in 7.5. If you
decide to make additions to the areas of the world searched instead of just the USA, you
would add the new areas to the JobSpider.config.xml file and transfer this additional file
to your associates. You would transfer all the files created like: ALL the .com.xml files,
jobspider.categories.xml, and the JobSpider.config.xml.
